EVENTS DESCRIPTION Like in the movie Roman Holiday, explore the most beautiful places in Rome on a couch (yes we know… it is supposed to be a Vespa… but we make sure the sofa is enough for now!) Follow in the footsteps of Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck, Princess Anne and journalist Joe Bradley respectively, in the famous romantic film. Much like Audrey Hepburn in “Roman Holiday,” we too might gallivant around the Pantheon drinking champagne and caffè freddo (though preferably not together). That particular G. Rocca cafe no longer exists but others are close-by: and from the perspective of one of their tables we will admire the Pantheon, a temple built by the Ancient Roman emperor Hadrian that is still considered the largest single dome of unreinforced cement in the world, and is still standing strong after 1900 years! It’s truly an engineering and architectural marvel with its enormous 50-ton monolithic marble portico columns transported from Egypt to Rome. From here, we will get lost in the alleys of Rome and admiring it in all its personality. We will come face to face with the magnificent column of Marcus Aurelius, constructed on behalf of the elderly emperor featured in the movie Gladiator. As you leave this monument behind, you’ll pass by the gorgeous renaissance Chigi Palace, the residence of the Italian prime minister. And finally we will find ourselves at Trevi Fountain, where Joe tries to steal an American schoolgirl’s camera while the Princess has her hair cut at a nearby barber shop! The Trevi Fountain is the most famous Baroque fountain in Rome and perhaps in all over the world. You will get the fascinating history behind this enormous and dramatic sculptural art piece, discovering the symbology and the powerful political message it holds for its viewers and the origin of the coin tradition! Take our virtual walking tour to relive the happiest day of Princes Ann’s life in Rome and also the aperitif time of every local who wanders through the city-center.
